What Are Mental Health First Aid Stories?
Mental illness does not discriminate and those affected come from diverse backgrounds, live in every community, attend local schools, are employed in every workplace and are at different ages and stages of life.
Stories can be a powerful tool. By sharing our personal stories, whether they are lived experiences, a mental health first aid conversation in action, or the positive of Mental Health First Aid training amongst a community, we can help to reduce stigma, increase awareness of mental health problems.
We all have a story to tell.
Mental Health First Aid Stories shares different people’s experiences of demonstrating skills learned from Mental Health First Aid training. These Stories explore how Mental Health First Aid training may help to support a family member, friend, colleague who may be experiencing a mental health problem.ย
SARAH’S STORY
When her youngest daughter Siobhan started high school, Sarah started to see her daughter withdraw from her friends and family.

DANIEL’S STORY
Daniel’s workmate Steven was let go at work due to downsizing of the company they were both working at. A couple of months after he was let go, Daniel started to notice some changes in Steven’s behaviour.
